All reved up for the weekend!

Vroom vroom!  On Saturday, June 25th, raine.with.love and fellow crafters had their creative engines running at the 25th Annual Edison First Aid Squad #2 Car/Bike Show and Craft Fair.

Spectators, as well as vendors, got into the groove with music played from the 50's and 60's.  Hamburgers and hotdogs were served, and a zepolli booth was set up to satifisfy the sweet toothed.  Italian ice carts were standing by ready to serve scoops to help patrons cool off.  There were also many classic rides on display, of course. One particular vehicle that stood out was the 1981 Silver DeLorean. You may know it better as the time machine from Back to the Future!

With Independence Day weekend shortly after the fair, raine.with.love's table exploded with exciting new items as well as classic favorites.  4th of July was the perfect time to celebrate with these candy-filled red, white, and blue party favors.

Perfect to hand out during those summer barbecues, kids and grown-ups alike will delight in these candy wrapper boxes or mini milk cartons and treat-filled matchboxes.

Who's Your Daddy, and What's the 411 hun?

Father's Day was this past Sunday, June 19.  But any day is an opportunity to tell the dads in your life how much you care and appreciate them.  Sometimes, the "right moment" to express your feelings verbally with your father doesn't present itself very often.  That's when your best alternative is to put it in writing.  What better way to convey your thoughts on paper than with one of raine.with.love's handmade papercrafts?  Written words can be very powerful and impactful.  And more permanent.  A greeting card serves as a tangible memory that the recipient can tap into any time just by re-reading the card.  After all, you don't have a tape recorder on you to capture those fleeting words of endearment and expressions of love.  Or do you?  ;)

I used this card by raine:

Blank inside, I filled it with my own words to my father.  I believe I said more in my writing than anything I would have been able to say in person.  And although I was not there when he opened and read the card, I suspect it warmed his heart because it warmed mine to write it.

For all the dads, grandfathers, godfathers, and uncles, and to all the father figures in your life, wish them a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.

Whoever serves the role of "dad" in your life deserves to be acknowledged.  Say it with love.
Say it with raine.

The "SUPER DAD" card above was featured at last April's Bumble Bee Bazaar Craft Show in Roselle Park.  Come see and purchase more products by raine.with.love this Saturday at The 25th Annual SPRINGFEST Car/Bike Show and Craft Fair in Edison, NJ.

Power to the Paper!

So I went to the Paper Power National Stationery Show last weekend.  This is the ultimate event for all things paper.  It was their 65th year at the Jacob Javits Center but my first time attending.  Every year, the NSS holds conventions, setting up hundreds of booths that house an array of vendors.  From paper suppliers, to letterpress companies, to greeting card designers, to patterned paper makers, to tool suppliers, they were ALL there.

I was accompanied by my friends Nikki Fregara, a fellow cardmaker, and Sara Wang.  We were all very excited that this day had finally come, being that we are all paper enthusiasts.  Upon our entrance into the exhibit, we were greeted with a Paper Power info magazine, then up the escalator we went.  As our ascent ended, BOOM!  There we were, in awe of a company that specializes in amazing pop-up books and greeting cards.  The floor abounded with numerous booths showcasing some remarkable products.  We were a bit overwhelmed.  We managed to make our rounds and even collected some catalogues, paper samples, and free shopping bags!  Whoo-hoo!  I couldn't take any photos of the actual booths with their merchandise, but I was able to capture these incredible and creative dress displays.

Doesn't this look like leather?

Dresses made out of paper, of course!  There was a long red carpetted walkway staged with mannequins decked out in designer paper.  It was brilliantly titled "The Paper Runway."

Check out the paper puppy!

Overall, the show was a memorable experience full of imagination and inspiration.  The possibilities of paper are astounding.  Can't wait 'til next year!

Until then, the next event not to be missed is the 25th Annual Craft Fair in Edison, NJ on Saturday, June 25, 2011.  Save the date!  Details to come!

conGRADulations!

May and June are months glittered with momentous occasions.  One milestone event that truly cannot be missed is graduation.  Whether from nursery school or from medical school, recognizing that student's achievement is an opportunity to celebrate those moments of success and validation.  They've earned it!  It's time to say goodbye (at least, for now) to those late night study groups, last minute projects, and cramming for final exams. And say, 'HELLO GRADUATE!'

Check out raine.with.love's exclusive line of cards to greet your graduate.  Near or far, let the grad(s) in your life know how proud you are.

Each card offers a blank canvas inside for you to write your thoughts.  Share some words of wisdom or encouragement or a simple congrats.
